Thanksgiving is one of my favourite holidays, as it's something I didn't grow up with in Australia. It's roots date back to an end of harvest celebration, and is a completely secular holiday, not to mention that Autumn in Canada is simply gorgeous, and looks like something out of the movies! I like to write up some thoughts for what I'm thankful for, and this is definitely no exception.
This year, I'm grateful that hubby and I both have jobs, and have been able to both work from home without getting in each other's ways too much. I'm grateful for old friends, and new, in particular some new friends I've made as a result of my interest in style. I'm grateful to all the wonderful makers that have put a smile on my dial with your beautiful pieces, all made with love, and finally I'm grateful for the little push the pandemic gave me to finally get the help I need.
I know that Mental Health cases are on the rise this year, and I quite frankly I'm not the least bit surprised, but I also don't want to feel ashamed, or shy away from talking about it. Aside from professional help, of which there is absolutely no shame in seeking, we all have things that help us process and deal with being in a heightened state.
For me, I'm grateful for the difference in my mood wearing a fun outfit can be. Choosing the right patterns and the right accessories are like an artform in itself.
Today's outfit is a fun little nod to Thanksgiving. I recently realised I had missed the boat on ordering an actual Thanksgiving brooch this year, so thought that a lumberjack chasing an Aussie bush turkey would make a fun substitute. I also added a stunning autumnal maple leaf brooch as it is the exact colour of the maple leaves on the tree in my front yard at the moment, and of course a headband with pumpkins on it. I chose items of clothing with orangey tones, including my warm and snuggly Made590 Flannel Flower cardigan, vintage floral shirt, and Made590 Rifle Paper Co print floral skirt.
